Values
At Glass City Church we strive to love and serve Toledo and the surrounding areas by preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and living lives that bring glory to God. In doing so, there are a few overarching values that guide us.
Truth- We love truth. We are obsessed with getting to know God's truth through studying the Bible, enjoying His creation, and participating in meaningful relationships to sharpen our faith and encourage our walk with Christ.
Love- God loved us first so that we may love the world around us. In our quest to love the City of Toledo we want to make the name of Jesus known everywhere we go. We aspire to live authentic lives that show Christ's love to everyone we encounter.
Transparency- We love the saying, "It's okay to not be okay" because it frees us up to be real. Jesus already knows our hearts, our sin, our struggles, our hopes, our fears, and our tremendous need for Him, so we don't want to hide that from each other. Sin hides in darkness. We want to bring it out into the light. We want to confess well, repent well, and forgive well. Authenticity is a rare commodity in our society and we want to bring glory to God by being real.
Community- The Christian life is not a solo project. The concept of community is written all over the pages of Holy Scripture in both a prescriptive and descriptive sense. God commands it. We try to do it well. Whether it's gathering for corporate worship on Sundays, meeting in groups of men and women, or assembling in co-ed Missional Communities, we love doing life together.
Service- Jesus didn't just sit up on a mountain and hand out advice as a "life coach," rather He came down and lived among the people He sought to love. That's what we want to do. We believe that by being incarnational in our ministry, we can show the love of Christ rather than just speaking about it. We love serving the City of Toledo through various group projects as well as individually on a daily basis.
